It Hurts

It hurts sometimes; Memories, my past, the possibilities of the future. Sometimes it’s just painful being a girl. Yes I’m 28 and still refer to myself as a girl sometimes. No matter what age I am there will always be a young girl deep down somewhere. It’s that girl that brings out the pain in me. All the growing she has gone through. The wonderful moments and the torturous ones. Everyone has a past. You might look back on yours and smile. I pray that you do. However, If you are in a place right now where anything but smiling is what you are doing let me pass on a few things that have helped me while I was hurting.

First and foremost get into the scriptures. There is so much information about hurt. Stories of people who have hurt(like Job), how God cares about your hurt, what to do with it and really just a lot of great stuff about the emotional pains of being human. Here are a few I like:

Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Psalms 30:5 “…Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”

Next when I’m hurting I either 1. Take time to be alone with myself to clarify and really think it out or 2. Surround myself with people that love me and that I enjoy. Sharing isn’t somthing I used to be very good at but I am learning what a gift it can be. To just tell someone you trust and someone who cares about you what your going threw or what’s on your mind can take such a load off. Lastly, pray! No one better to talk to about the hurt in life than your father who loves you more than anyone else. He will ease your pain and give you peace only he can give.
