Start Feeling Better With A Detox Day!

Once in a while I start to feel like I need a physical revolution. Latley I’ve been tired, unproductive and sluggish. I can tell there is somthing going on with my physical body. So often lately I’v been focused on my spiritual self and I havnt take the time to take care of my body. I like to detox every once In a while.I can tell how much better I feel and how  rejuvenated I am in the days to follow. Detoxing can mean a lot of deferent things to deferent people so I thought I would share with you how I detox.

This time around I started out with a warm cup of detox tea. I got the original recipe from Andrea Potter at gaiamtv.com and put my own twist on it.

Ingredients for your detox tea:

1 tsp turmeric (I used power but fresh ground turmeric would be best it’s just hard to find out here where I live)

Just a pinch of cayenne pepper

1 tsp cinnamon

honey to taste (I like things sweet so I used 2 tbs)

a squirt of lemon

Boil  a mug of water and add ingredients. You’ll want to stir them really well. I love the way it tast but turmeric is really an acquired tast kind of spice so you may want to use less water if you don’t want to sip a whole cup of tea. Turmeric is great anti-inflammatory, arthritis, helps support liver function, and has shown in many new studies to help prevent and fight cancer. Cinnamon has endless health benefits but a few of my favorite things cinnamon can do for you is help control blood sugar, can be a natural anti bacterial and can help fight off stomach flu. cayenne gives it a nice little kick and help with nasal congestions. Honey also has a lot to offer like helps to build your immune system, can be energizing and it taste delicious.  

Next I take a detox bath. This is best done in the evening because it will really make you feel worn out. I didn’t get the chance to do mine at night because I knew I really needed it and couldn’t wait days to have an evening free to myself so I used the kids nap time. I got the original idea for this from wikihiw.com and I love it. I really feel like it helps get toxins from out daily lives out and helps with sore muscles too! What you’ll need for the bath is

1 cup Ebsome salt

1-2 cups baking soda

1-2 tbs ground ginger

any essenial oil you like for a pleasant smell

Before I take my bath I rinse off in the shower and do a exfoliating coffee scrub that I made. Its 1 cup of caffeinated coffee grounds and 1 tbs coconut oil blended together really well. You could use any kind of scrub but an all natural or organic one would be best. It helps to open up your pours and helps to let the minerals from your bath that your getting ready to take. The coffee ground scrub will make a crazy looking mess in your shower so just be prepared to rinse your shower out when your done) Draw yourself a bath as hot as you can stand it add all the ingredients and stir your bath well. Next you climb on in. Make sure to drink a lot of water while in the bath and plenty after. This bath will make you sweat A TON! It can even make me feel a little light headed from sweating out all the toxins. I try and stay in for 40 minute but sometimes I get too hot and have to get out. After you get out you will continue to sweat for an hour or more so don’t plan on leaving the house or doing much of anything after words.
